Tibet Everest base camp tour starts with the flight to Lhasa crossing over the high Himalayas with amazing views of some of the great giants, Mt. Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Kanchanjunga and Cho Oyu. We explore ancient city Lhasa visiting famous Potala Palace, Derpung monastery, Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery, Bharkhor Market. We proceed to two Tibetan old cities Shigatse & Gyantse to explore the Gyantse Kumbum Chorten at Pelkor Chöde Monastery and impressive Tashihunpo Monastery.
We pass the sights of Tibetan settlements, vast grasslands nomadic horsemen and commence exciting journeys to Everest base camp to embrace the great views of Everest north face and Rongbuk Monastery. Spectacular views of snow capped giant mountains, Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu, Shishapangma and other mountains while driving on the high passes offer awe inspiring experience of journey in Tibet Everest base camp tour. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Meeting at the airport and transfer to a hotel. Briefing of the trip at a convenient time.
Day 02: Cultural Tour and Trip preparation (Obtaining Chinese visa)
Sightseeing tour of Swayambhunath, the Buddhist Stupa the profound expression of Bhuddism in Nepal and Kathmandu Durbar Square, clustered with old royal palaces and distinctive pagoda roofed temples, stone sculpture and old monuments.
Day 03: Kathmandu – Lhasa flight (3670m.)
Fly over panoramic Himalayan ranges from Kathmandu to the holy city of Lhasa. Transfer to Hotel and rest for acclimatization.
Day 04: Visit Potala Palace, Drepung Monastery and Bharkhor Market.
Visit Potala Palace perched upon the Ri Marpo (Red Hill) 130meters above Lhasa valley making it the highest monumental in Tibet. Proceed to Drepung Monastery, The largest monastery in Tibet as well as in the world and the principal seat of the Gelugpa school, Bharkhor Market, the most bustling sections in Lhasa with historical, cultural, religious and commercial importance.
Day 05: Visit Sera Monastery, Jokhang Temple and Norbulinka Palace.
Visit Sera Monastery, the second biggest monastery in Tibet but badly damaged following the invasion of Tibet and the Cultural Revolution, Jokhang Temple, the most sacred and the oldest temple in Tibet, Norbulinka Palace, summer palace of Dalai lama.
Day 06: Lhasha Drive to Gyantse ( 261 km. approx. 8 hrs.)
Drive to Gyangtse, a pastoral town between Lhasa and Shigatse. crossing over Karola Pass (5010m), Khambala Pass (4794m), colourful Yamdrok Lake and the Tibetan lifeline river Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahmaputra).
Day 07: Visit Palkhur Choid Monastery and drive to Shigatse (3900m.)
Visit Palkhur Choide Monastery, the only monastery which contains different Tibetan Buddhism sects in Tibet, Kumbum Stupa, one of the most magnificent buildings in Tibet of six stories high with 108 doors leading to its inner chambers. Drive to Shigatse.
Day 08: Visit Tashilhumpo Monstery and Drive to Rongbuk (4980m.)
Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, famous for its giant statue of Buddha Maitreya and massive Thangka wall. Drive to Rongbuk past Tibetan towns, Lhaste and Tingri.
Day 09: Excursion of Everest Base Camp – Drive to Tingri (4300m.)
Drive to Everest base camp (5150m) and enjoy the great views of Everest north face. Explore around Rongbuk glacier and return to Rongbuk. Drive to Tingri.
Day 10: Drive to Kathmandu (122 km. 4- 5 hrs.)
Drive to Nyalam and then to Zhangmu, complete immigration formalities on both sides and drive to Kathmandu along the Bhote Koshi River. A farewell dinner in the evening at a typical Nepali restaurant with culture program.
Day 11: Airport Transfer
Airport transfer for departure.
