Poonhill Ghorepani Trekking – Blessed with Spectacular Panoramic Views from Manaslu to Dhaulagiri
Poonhill Ghorepani trekking highlights the panoramic view of Himalayas in the west of Nepal. The trek explores beautiful nature scenery with rich culture of Gurungs. Gurungs are well known as Gurkhas in the western world as a symbol of heroism. Poonhill Ghorepani trekking is a short trek in low altitude in Annapurna region.
Ghorepani trekking is best suited to the trekkers who want to embrace the nature beauty with magnificent views of Annapurnas, attractive Machhapuchhre and giant Dhaulagiri. The trek is ideal for the families with small children. Poonhill Ghorepani trekking takes you through beautiful rhododendron and pine forests. We pass the terraced fields, cross small streams and small villages with magnificent mountain houses. The trek is dramatic in spring season from the beginning of March till mid April. The whole rhododendron forest will be blazed with rhododendron flowers.
Poonhill Ghorepani Trekking Route Details
Poonhill Ghorepani trekking begins from Pokhara. We drive to Nayapool and commence trekking with gradual climb passing small villages, terraced fields and patches of jungle. After crossing Bhurundi Khola, we make steep climbing of stone stairs from Tirkhedhunga to Ulleri which is unique in Poonhill Ghorepani trekking.
The main highlight of Poonhill Ghorepani trekking is the visit to Poonhill for spectacular sun rise over the Himalayas and the panoramic views of mountains. It will be almost one hour hike from Ghorepani to Poonhill in the dawn. The sun rising and shedding light on Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South and other snow capped mountains make spectacular scenery. The panorama of the Himalayas from Manaslu in the east to Dhaulagiri in the west prove Poonhill one of the best vantage points on the earth. Sun set views are also equally spectacular specially in November and December in the autumn season.
On the descend from Ghorepani, we visit Ghandruk, a beautiful Gurung hamlet nestled on the lap of the mountains. The clustered neatly built stone houses with the views of the mountains is another attraction of the trekking. Poonhill Ghorepani trekking makes a loop and and ends in Pokhara. The trekking can be extended with rafting in Trishuli River and tour to Chitwan National Park.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. A briefing of the trekking trip will be arranged at a convenient time.
Day 02: Kathmandu – Pokhara Flight ( 30 minutes) – Tirkhedhunga ( 1540m. ): 7 – 8 hrs.
Fly to Pokhara in the morning. Transfer you to Naya Pool and commence the trek. Hike through subtropical forest with gradual ups and downs to Tirkhedhunga.
Day 03: Tirkhedhunga – Ghorepani ( 2750m. ): 4 – 5 hrs.
Climbing though stone steps (more than 3000. Stone steps) to Ulleri and then gradually ascending through forest to the ridge of Ghorepani with spectacular views of Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri an more.
Day 04: Ghorepani – Poon Hill – Tadapani ( 2590m. ); 7 – 8 hrs.
One hour hike to the top of Poon Hill (3,205 m), the best vantage point for spectacular panorama of Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri. Descend to Ghorepani and again climb a ridge with great views of mountains and then descend to Tadapani.
Day 05: Tadapani – Ghandruk ( 1840m. ); 3 – 4 hrs. )
Pass through dense forest mostly covered with rhododendron and the whole forest blazed with rhododendron flowers blooming in the spring season. Further descend takes to Ghandruk, a beautiful Gurung Village with cluster of closely spaced stone houses. Magnificent views of Annapurna South.
Day 06: Ghandruk – Naya Pul – Pokhara ( 4 – 5 hrs. trek & 1 hr. drive )
Descend to Modi Khola and follow the trail through river valley passing beautiful birch forest and rice terraces to Naya pul. Land transportation to Pokhara.
Day 07: Pokhara
Free day in Pokhara for hiking to world peace Gompa / boating on Phewa Lake / para gliding / bicycle tour etc.
Day 08: Pokhara – Kathmandu.
Drive or fly back to Kathmandu
Day 09: Airport Transfer
Airport transfer for departure.
Cost will be provided on request.

- All necessary paperwork for permit ( ACAP entry prmit, TIMS card )

- An experienced English speaking trek leader ( trekking guide ) and assistant trekking guide ( for the group of above 4 trekking members ), and porters ( one porter between two trekkers ) to carry luggage including their meals, accommodation, wages, equipment and accident insurance.
