Kharta Valley Kangshung Face Trekking Route Details
Kharta Valley Kangshung face trekking begins with the drive to Friendship Bridge, Nepal-Tibet border. We further drive to Kharta and commence trekking through rich vegetation. We hike along the banks of the Kharta River and pass through Shao La (4700m.) with breathtaking views of valleys below and snow capped peaks to the east. Crossing beautiful Karma Valley, we trek to Pethang Ringmo, the place of ancient spirituality below the east face of Mt. Everest. We get the stunning views of Everest Kangshung Face above Pethang camp which justifies this trek as Everest Kangshung Face trekking.
We cross over Langma La with great views of high mountains. We pass through ridges and valleys with grass and thick vegetation and proceed to Rongbuk to get the different view of Mt. Everest from Everest base camp in Tibet. No other treks besides Kharta Valley Kangshung Face trekking offers stunning views of Everest East Face and Everest North Face in one trekking. We drive to Nepal-Tibet border and then to Kathmandu to end Kharta Valley Kangshung Face trekking.

Main Highlights: Trekking to the bottom of Kangsung face Everest with magnificent views, visit of famous Kharta Valley of rich vegetation and flowers, Pethang Ringmo, place of ancient spirituality, crossing over Langma la Pass (5320m.), with magnificent views of Makalu, Everest, Lhotse Shar and Lhotse.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Meeting at the airport and transfer to a hotel. Briefing of the trip at a convenient time.
Day 02: Cultural Tour and Trip preparation (Obtaining Chinese visa)
Sightseeing tour of Swayambhunath, the Buddhist Stupa the profound expression of Bhuddism in Nepal and Kathmandu Durbar Square, clustered with old royal palaces and distinctive pagoda roofed temples, stone sculpture and old monuments.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Nylam (3750m. 7-8 hrs.)
Drive to Kodari (Nepal – China border). After completing custom formalities on both sides, drive to Nyalam.
Day 04: Free Day in Nyalam for Acclimatization
Hike up to the hills for acclimatization and rest at Nyalam.
Day 05 – Drive to Kharta
Drive over Lalungla Pass (5050m) for breathtaking panorama of beautiful Himalayan ranges including Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m) and Mt. Shishapangma (8012m) and then Pang La pass to Kharta.
Day 06: – Rest day in Kharta for further acclimatization
Hike around Kharat for better acclimatization.
Day 07: Trekking to Lundrubling.
Hike along the banks of the Kharta River climbing gradually passing Shao La with breathtaking views of valleys below and snow capped peaks to the east.
Day 08: Trek to Kaamo Tsangpo Valley.
Pass through impressive birch groves, rhododendrons, fir and pine forest with the views of great Himalayan peaks and yak pastures and meandering valleys.
Day 09: Trek to Khangsung Valley
Gradual ascend through conifer forest ridgeline with superb views of nature sceneries including a series of alpine lakes and yak herder communities with beautiful meadows and magnificent views of Kangsung faceof Mt. Everest.
Day 10: Trek to Pethang Ringmo
A short hiking day to Pethang Ringmo, a place of ancient spirituality. Explore around visiting the caves used for sacred shelters and prayer rooms and soak in the silence of the nature.
Day 11: Trek to Hoppo
Walking on the valley passing beautiful meadow and then to the steep slopes with the views of Everest and the glaciers of Chomo Lonzo.
Day 12: Trek to Kangshung base camp and back to Hoppo
Hike for a few hours to Kangshung base camp. The Kangshung face of Everest towers high and also seen the North East ridge of Everest,
Day 13: Trek to Langma La
Gradual ascend passing series of yak pastures to the base of Langma La with views of Makalu..
Day 14: Cross Langma La and continue on to Lundrubling
Challenging ascend to langma La for great views of of Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu. Descend and pass through a series of yak pastures.
Day 15: Trek to Kharta
Trek to Kharta and explore around, the last and easy day of hiking.
Day 16: Drive to Rongbuk
Drive to Rongbuk passing through Phadhruchi.
Day 17: Excursion of Everest Base Camp – Drive to Tingri (4300m.)
Drive to Everest base camp (5150m) and enjoy the great views of Everest north face. Explore around Rongbuk glacier and return to Rongbuk. Drive to Tingri.
Day 18: Drive to Kathmandu (122 km. 4- 5 hrs.)
Drive to Nyalam and then to Zhangmu, complete immigration formalities on both sides and drive to Kathmandu along the Bhote Koshi River. A farewell dinner in the evening at a typical Nepali restaurant with culture program.
Day 19: Airport Transfer
Airport transfer for departure.
