Everest three high passes trekking is an alternative for Everest base camp trekking and Gokyo – Kalapatthar trekking. The trek is ideal for trekking in Khumbu region avoiding the crowd and make a more adventurous trekking. The spectacular views of the high Himalayas from different vantage points is one of the highlights of Everest three high passes trek. The trekking trail crosses over some of the magnificent and challenging high passes, Kongma La (5,535m.), Cho La (5420m) and Renjo La(5,340m) in Khumbu region.

Everest Three High Passes Trekking Route Details
Everest three high passes trekking begins with the flight to Lukla. We follow the standard trekking route of Everest base camp for a few days in the beginning. As we reach Dingboche, the trail takes different route ascending to Chukhung to cross Kongma La ( 5,535m.) the first high pass in Everest three high passes trekking. We hardly encounter trekkers while crossing Kongma La and surrender ourselves to the serene and tranquil nature. The pass offers the great views of Himalayas and beautiful landscape beneath the pass.
Through rough trekking trail, we descend to Lobuche and follow normal trekking route of Everest trekking. After ascending Kalapatthar, we leave main trekking trail to cross over Cho La Pass ( 5,420m.) to Gokyo, a place of beautiful lakes in the shadow of snow capped mountains. Ascending to Gokyo Ri offers the spectacular Himalayan panorama including Mt. Everest. We make a traverse to Renjo la, the last high pass of Everest three high passes trekking. The pass proves another vantage point for panoramic views of Himalayas. We get magnificent views of the Himalayas west of Gokyo from Renjo La and Thame. Following Bhotekoshi Valley Everest three high passes trekking ends in Lukla.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Meeting at the airport and transfer to a hotel. A briefing of the trekking trip at a convenient time.
Day 02: Kathmandu – Lukla – Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft): 3 – 4 hrs.
Flight to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft) with spectacular views of breathtaking Himalayas. Take easy walk to Phakding for approximately three hours.
Day 03: Phakding – Namche Bazaar (3440 m): 5 – 6 hrs
Walk through beautiful pine forest passing Dhudhkosi River crossing several suspension bridges to Namche with sights of Kusum Kangru, Everest & Nuptse.
Day 04: Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar
Hike up to Everest View Hotel for better views of Everest and acclimatization. A pleasant day to explore around Namche or hike up to Khumjung / Thame.
Day 05: Namche Bazzar to Tengboche (3,870m) – 5 – 6 hrs.
Hike up and down through forest and mani stones to Tengboche (3870m.). Great views of Kwangde (6,187m.), Everest (8,848m.),Nuptse ( 7,879m.), Lhotse, Tawache & Amadablam.
Day 06: Tengboche to Dingboche (4,410 m): 5 – 6 hrs
Walk through the forest of briches, conifers & rhododendrons and some magnificently carved mani stones to Pangboche and further passing through beautiful array of fields to Dingboche.
Day 07: Dingboche – Chhukung ( 4730m. ): 4 – 5 hrs.
Follow Imja Khola valley with great views of Lhotse on left and Amadablam on right. Pass Bibre with view of Island peak and then hiking on the moraine to Chukung.
Day 08: Rest day in Chukung
Day of acclimatization making side trips to Island peak base camp or the climbing on Chukung Ri for acclimatization.
Day 09: Chukung – Kongma La (5535m.) – Lobuche (4930m.): 6 – 7 hrs.
Following the trail above Niyang Khola and ascending on loose scree arrive at Kongma La with great views of Himalayas. Descend along the moraine to Khumbu Galcier to Lobuche.
Day 09: Lobuche – Gorak Shep (5170 m) – Everest Base Camp (5364 m) – Gorak Shep: 8 – 9 hrs.
Follow lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to Gorakhshep with the views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Mahalangur, Mt. Lingtern, Mt. Khumbutse, Mt. Nuptse, etc. Move further towards to Everest base camp for amazing views of Khumbu Ice Fall.
Day 10: Gorak Shep – Kala Patthar – Pheriche (4280 m ): 8 – 9 hrs
The day of ultimate destination, the best view of Everest and other mountains from Kalapatthar. Retrace to Lobuche.
Day 12: Lobuche – Zhongla ( 4830m. : 4 – 5 hrs.
Follow the bank of a stream and then gradually ascend to a ridge for fantastic views of Lhotse, Nuptse, Island peak, Amadablam, Makalu and arrive at Zhongla.
Day 13: Zhongla – Cho La Pass – Dragnag ( 5685m. ): 6 – 7 hrs.
The most difficult day in the entire trek with gradual ascend along the Kharkas and steep climb through the glaciers to Cho La pass. Breathtaking views of the Himalayas from the pass and steeply descend to Dragnag.
Day 14: Dragnag – Gokyo ( 4780m. ): 4 – 5 hrs.
Pass glacier, Kharkas ( yak grazing land ) to Gokyo, an old yak herders village, all snow capped mountain surrounded Gokyo lake.
Day 15: Gokyo Ri ( 5483m. ) – Gokyo
Steep climb up for 3 to 4 hours to Gokyo Ri, one of the best view points in Everest region with spectacular views of Mt. Everest, Kusum Kanguru, Thamserku, K 43, Kangtega, Taboche, Cholatse, Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Changtse, and Pumori .
Day 16: Gokyo – Renjo Pass (5340m.) – Marlung ( 4210m.): 6 – 7 hrs.
Follow the trail by Dudh Pokhari with gradual ascent to Renjo La with amazing views of Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse and whole Gokyo Valley. Descend through stone staircase and then loose scree to Marlung
Day 17: Marlung – Namche (3440m.): 5 -6 hrs.
Crossing Bhote Kosi and then descending through Dudh Kosi valley to Thame and further descending to Namche.
Day 18: Namche Bazaar-Lukla (2,800m): 6 – 8 hrs
Following rocky terrain and crossing Dhudhkosi several times, descend to Lukla
Day 19: Lukla – Kathmandu
Fly Lukla – Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. Farewell dinner at one of the finest typical.Nepali restaurant with traditional Nepali culture program.
Day 20: Free in Kathmandu
Free for your personal activities or can be used as spare day in case of flight cancellation from Lukla due to bad weather.
Day 21: Airport transfer for your onward journeys.
Airport transfer for international departure.
Note: Kathmandu – Lukla – Kathmandu flight may be delayed by few hours or even cancelled due to bad weather condition. You should be prepared for such flight delays or cancellations. We will do our best to avoid such conditions. In case of flight cancellation, we will try to get you on the flight for the next day. Getting early flight for the next day may be not possible during the high season. We can arrange flight by helicopter as well with extra cost. If we have a group of 4- 5 people, we can charter helicopter for you to fly from Kathmandu – Lukla or vice versa. It will be advisable to have extra days in Kathmandu before and after the trekking. Ang Rita Trek & Expedition can arrange you cultural / adventure tours (such as sightseeing tours, rafting, jungle safari, ) with extra cost if the extra days are not used for the flight conditions to Lukla and back.
If the flight is delayed and cancelled for several days which could disturb your onward journey, you are free to choose trekking in Annapurna, Langtang and other regions and Ang Rita Trek & Expedition will arrange the alternative trek for you as soon as possible.

- An experienced English speaking trek leader ( trekking guide ) and assistant trekking guide ( 4 trekking members ),
