Annapurna sanctuary trekking starts from beautiful town of nature paradise, Pokhara. In the beginning the trek passes through terraced fields, beautiful forests of pine and rhododendron. The trek explores magnificent Gurung villages on the back drop of majestic mountains. Gurungs, the synonym of bravery and honesty are well known as British Gurkhas serving in British army. Annapurna sanctuary trekking explores the rich culture of various ethnic groups besides Gurungs. There are virtually no settlements above Chhomrong except the lodges for the trekkers.
Trekking in natural serenity is one of the highlights of Annapurna sanctuary trekking. The trekking trail leads to Machhapuchhre base camp and offers the great views of mountains. Machhapuchhre base camp serves the gateway for several peak climbing trips in Annapurna region. Further hiking to Annapurna base camp takes you to the amphitheater of the snow capped mountains. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. A briefing of the trekking trip will be arranged at a convenient time.
Day 02: Kathmandu – Pokhara Flight ( 30 minutes) – Dhampus ( 1650m. ): 4 hrs.
Fly to Pokhara in the morning. Drive to Phedi and commence trekking with gradual climb for three hours to Dhampus. At the top of the ridge the views of Machhapuchhre. Annapurna South (7273m.) and Annapurna II (7937m) are magnificent.
Day 03: Dhampus – Landrung ( 1565m. ); 5 hrs.
Ups and downs through the rhododendron forest to Landrung (1565m.).
Day 04: Landrung – Chhomrong ( 2140m ); 6 – 7 hrs.
Following the bank of Modikhola and passing through the forest, arrive at Chhomrong.
Day 05: Chhomrong – Doban ( 2580m. ); 6 – 7 hrs.
After crossing Chhomrong Khola pass through thick forest vegetation and steep stone steps into deep bamboo and rhododendron forests toDoban.
Day 06: Doban – Deurali ( 3230m. ); 5 – 6 hrs.
A steady ascent through thick bamboo, oak and rhododendron forests to Hinko. forest disappears and the valley open up at the foot of Machhapuchhre.
Day 07: Deurali – Machhapuchhre base camp – Annapurna base camp ( 4130m. ); 6 hrs.
A steady ascent about three hours to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3720m.) with magnificent views of mountains. Three hours gradual climb up to Annapurna base camp, the ultimate destination of the trek with spectacular views of the mountains including Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Himchuli, Gangapurna and more.
Day 08: Annapurna base camp – Himalaya Hotel ( 2920m ); 5 hrs.
Enjoy the great views of sun rise over the Himalayas in the dawn and retrace to Machhapuchhre base camp and then to Himalaya Hotel.
Day 09: Himalaya Hotel – Chhomrong ( 2140m. ); 5 – 6 hrs.
Gradual descend through thick rhododendron and bamboo forest to Chhomrong.
Day 10: Chhomrong – Ghandruk ( 5 – 6 hrs. )
Descend to Kimrung Khola, cross it and steep climb up to the ridge. The gradual descend from the ridge takes us to Ghandruk, one of the most beautiful villages of Gurungs.
Day 11: Ghandruk – Naya Pool – Pokhara ( 7 hrs. )
Passing several villages following the bank of Modi Khola and crossing it, arrive at Naya Pool to catch the land transportation to Pokhara.
Day 12: Drive / Fly Pokhara – Kathmandu.
Either drive along the bank of Marshyangdi and Trisuli River or fly to Kathmandu. Enjoy the fare well dinner at one of the typical Nepali restaurants with cultural program.
Day 13: Airport Transfer.
Transfer to airport for international departure.
